God has called me to be a watchman on the wall. He has given me a small piece of the wall - not the entire wall to guard and defend. In Nehemiah 4:17-18 we read that those who worked to rebuild the wall had a tool in one hand and a sword in the other. Nehemiah 3 lists those who stood strong to guard and rebuild the wall; not one, not two but many. In Nehemiah 2:19 we see enemies rising up against Nehemiah and the plans of God.
Our sword, our tools God provides. Our sword, His Word, our tools; the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
(1 Corinthians 12:7-11). Just as it took many to rebuild the wall in Jerusalem, so too it takes all of us to complete the task as 'watchmen on the wall' - each guarding and defending our small piece of the wall. Enemies, O yes we will have enemies, both in the spiritual as well as the physical realm, but be encouraged as you read Nehemiah. Nehemiah completed the task given him by God and with Gods help, we will do the same.
In upcoming days you may find it difficult to not become discouraged. But stand strong in His Word and remember Nehemiah.
