If your faith in Jesus Christ has not changed your life or the desires of your heart, you do not have saving faith.

Many walk the aisle, say the prayer, some are even baptized, yet upon leaving the church, their lives show no evidence of repentance or of a changed heart.

"Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." John 3:7

Many believe 'in' God, many believe 'on' God, but how many believe God?

Luke records these words of our LORD:  "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"

Jesus also spoke as recorded in the Gospel of John:  "If ye love me, keep my commandments."

"If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him."

Malachi asks: "A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?" says the LORD Almighty?"

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

  1. Amen! So many claim to believe in Jesus, even the demons believe...and tremble. There is more to being a follower of Christ than a mere verbal profession, it is a way of life. If you are not walking in obedience {not perfect sinlessness, but sensitive to sin and not habitually sinning} then you must examine yourself.
We need to get back to proclaiming the Gospel without tacking on the end of it something for the sinner to 'do' in order to be saved.

    Good post

  2. I have heard so many say "hey, I am a Christian. I was baptized when I was 12" [they are now in their 40's] - but since the age of 12, there has been no change in life style, their feet remain firmly planted in the world - and they feel it is enough to attend church on Christmas and Easter.

Prayers continue for the lost among us.

  5. Lloyd,

I took the liberty of checking out your blog, and sadly, I found the one thing that has led America to be the most apostate Christian nation on the face of the earth; an accursed gospel with the added 'abc's' of Christianity. We are not to give the Gospel then the 'procedure' to be saved, such as repeated canned prayers, inviting Jesus into your heart, etc. When you tell someone to 'do something' to bring about their salvation, you are teaching a salvation by works, and you are making God's grace null and void. Ephesians 2:8-9 makes it crystal clear, all of salvation is given by God as a gift according to His grace, that grace made available through the sacrifice of His own Son. We have got to stop giving sinners a 'how to' on being saved, we must stick with preaching Christ crucified and the hopelessness of the sinner apart from grace. Salvation comes through the preaching of the Gospel, therein lies the power to either save or leave in sin; God alone knows whether He will save certain sinners or leave them in their depraved state. We need not coerce by laying out 'steps' to salvation. Also, the passage in Revelation concerning Jesus knocking on the door is not an invitation for sinners to open their heart to let Him in, that would be taking the passage out of context; Christ was addressing the Laodicean church.

There is a famine of truth in the land because we aren't getting the Gospel right. We are churning out superficial Christians faster than an assembly line because of this accursed gospel that fills this nation. We MUST get back to what the men of old taught, the doctrines of grace; the five solas.

I do hope you will take time to view these videos by Paul Washer, who courageously speaks out against this very issue...

  6. Thanks Lyn for this good word. Paul Washer is indeed a courageous voice crying out in this wilderness we call America.

Perhaps you should consider, if you have not already done so, posting your concerns on Lloyd' blog as well.

    2. ali,

I couldn't find any other way to contact you, so I am doing so here. Lloyd responded by e-mail and basically said that he appreciated my 'opinion' but thinks my beliefs are way off base. I responded back with verses from Ephesians 2:1,5, 8-9 as well as Jeremiah 17:9 on the depravity of man and his thinking/understanding and the dead state of the sinner. Please pray God will open his understanding to the doctrines of grace.

  7. I will indeed pray that the eyes of his, yea all of our own understanding will be open.

It is sometimes good to disagree, it challenges us to diligently search His Word.

We all can use a measure or two or three of discernment in these difficult days.
