He said too many American Christians lack the "courage to be different and to clearly make a stand" in a culture that's increasingly disdainful if not hostile to Christianity.

Sounds good, indeed the church is weak and worldly, but I see no mention of Jesus, sin, repentance, reconciliation, the gospel or salvation. I also have a problem with his assessment of what the world needs. The world needs Jesus Christ, but somehow that fact seems to have slipped his mind.
Amen Ali - the Gospel is offensive to sinners IF it is proclaimed rightly. Jesus, sin, repentance, reconciliation are left out of most gospel presentations; instead, they serve up an easy method of being saved without the horrific reality of man's sinful depraved and wicked state being proclaimed. The 'gospel' that permeates America is an accursed gospel that states man has 'free will', or other methods of works-based salvation. Because we have such an accursed gospel permeating the land, and because there is no power in today's preaching, many who profess Christ verbally are false converts. Many have a form of godliness but the transforming power of God the Spirit is completely missing. The world needs to hear of it's hopeless condition; instead, the message being proclaimed leaves sinners in their sins and continues to fill the broad road.
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of OG, but his voice is strong in many "christian" circles. Sad, since this is all he seemingly has to offer.
